Prof. Michel Strawczynski, the director of the Economics and Society Program, presents his study, “The Cyclicality of Statutory Taxes in Israel.” According to Prof. Strawczynski, raising indirect taxes in periods of economic recession is contrary to what economic models recommend. These taxes rose in the last two periods of economic recession: 2001–2003 and 2009.
