The Study of Arabic in the Education System Should be Compulsory / The Carmel Portal 7/7/2016 (Hebrew)

The education system will not allow students to choose between studying Arabic or French. Arabic will be the second language for Jewish students, and learning it will be compulsory from elementary school through twelfth grade, just as the Hebrew language is currently a second language for Arabs.

This came in the wake of the annual conference on Language, Identity and Conflict in Israel, at which Prof. Muhammad Amara presented the results of a study on "The Arabic Language in Israeli Academe."
