Problems of Progress: Human Rights and the Rights Character of the Human
With the populist right resurgent throughout the North Atlantic civilization, a political morality without borders appears urgent. After qualifying what progress could intelligibly mean under conditions of late capital, this lecture will offer directions for a reconstruction of the idea of human rights that takes its lead from the writings of Étienne Balibar.
