Wednesday | 12.03.25 | 16:00 - 17:30

Research Seminar |
The seminar will be held in English.
In the 18 months since the October 7 attack, American Jewish intellectuals and theologians have reconsidered and reconfigured the relationship between American Jews and the Israeli state, in a manner they had not done since the 1967 war, taking this time a vastly different outlook.
Jewish religious and intellectual voices expressing rejection of the Jewish state have become more pronounced, including attempts to construct theological, theoretical and communal frameworks for a Judaism that stands without Israel, relying solely on Jewish traditions and texts, as well as its own resources and creativity.
Since October 7, 2023, ominous developments have taken place in the relation of American Jewish religious thinkers towards Israel. Looking at these developments, this talks will offer an analysis of ideas and writings, while pointing to the social, political, and intellectual background that brought them about.
