The three-part series, created by Keren Shayo, Lavi Vanounou, and Osnat Trabelsi, portrays the transformation of Jaffa into a desired real estate gem and the threat that this process poses for the local population. The second part of the series will be screened at the event. The discussion following the screening will explore the class and national conflicts that are the source of the gentrification in Jaffa and that exacerbate it. The case of Jaffa will serve as the basis for the discussion of conflicts of this type, in their wider context and in other places in Israel and elsewhere.
The series was produced for Channel 8 Hot in conjunction with the Yehoshua Rabinovich Foundation for the Arts—The Israel Cinema Project, and Mifal HaPais.
The first part of the series is available for viewing online.
