A lecture series on gender and sexuality—with a focus on the LGBTQ context—in the Middle East.
“Hey, we’re not in Europe”: Being LGBTQ in the Middle East
In recent years, the LGBTQ world has aroused public and academic interest, but the Middle Eastern context has hardly been addressed and remains largely hidden from view. In this lecture series we will explore the issues of queerism and LGBT in Middle Eastern society from both historical and contemporary perspectives and thus will shed light on this social phenomenon in these societies and will contribute to the growing discourse on the topic.
