Betty has vast experience in applied social research with an emphasis on exploring change processes and social mobility. Her PhD from the Tel Aviv University Department of Communication was about activism and social change through online social networks. She has been active in the social field for three decades and headed social change campaigns that impacted the public and private spheres.

In recent years Betty has focused on conducting evaluation studies and capacity building for social change organizations, with an emphasis on multicultural and intercultural aspects. She lectures at the Sapir College School of Communication, where she teaches public relations and modes of participation in the public discourse. At the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute she heads community relations for the Maktoob project.
