Dr. Meirav Jones
Former director of project planning and development
Employed at the VLJI until 2020
Meirav is a research fellow and director of project planning and development at the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute. Her research focuses on the extent to which modern Western ideas emerged from within religious discourse; on ideas of Israel in Christianity from the 17th century to this day; and on rethinking the ideas of modern sovereignty and of modern Jewish sovereignty in tandem. Meirav completed her PhD at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 2013, and has since held post-doctoral and teaching positions at Yale University, the University of Pennsylvania, Tel Aviv University, and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. At the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute she integrates and develops research programs, and aims to bring our work in Jerusalem into greater conversation with social thought and practice in Israel, in Europe, and in the United States.
