Yael has an MA cum laude in the sociology of education from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Between 2006 and 2013 she was a member of a research team that was part of an initiative for strategic planning in education headed by Prof. Dan Inbar. As such, she coordinated a variety of projects and groups and was part of teams that conducted research and wrote policy papers in education. Since then she had several roles at the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute. Starting in 2020 Yael is in charge of the Institute’s website.
