The group aims to discover ways in which Arabic can act as a tool for transmitting wisdom between cultures and as a means of encouraging deep, penetrating thought, primarily in light of the contemporary colonial situation. The group started meeting in April 2019. The participants are scholars and lecturers on literature as well as writers and educators who share an interest in Arabic and the political and social situation of those who speak it. The meetings include reading, analysis, and discussion of key texts in the relevant literature and lectures by group members and guest lecturers. The group members ascribe great importance to meetings of this type, and they are discussing the writing that they aim to produce.
