This research group aims to chart a new path for sociology in Israel. The group’s work, which began in 2017, was based on meetings between sociologists – seniors and juniors – from universities and colleges throughout the country in an attempt to create a “sociology of meaning.” The group focuses on two areas of research: 1) Israel’s middle class and 2) the therapeutic discourse, medicine and public health. The group’s activity is conducted in conjunction with The Shaharit Institute, for the purpose of nurturing inspiration between sociological research and social activism in Israel.
